    The private jacuzzi is awesome!

Fabulous staff, good location, authentic Japanese experience. The bath is wonderful! Extremely clean.

Shared bathroom was ok, but got crowed in the am. Sleeping on a fouton takes a toll on these ol' western bones! Buckwheat pillow was HARD. All in all a positive experience.

Everything about Andon Ryokan was fantastic - wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for us, cheap delicious breakfast in a sunny room filled with antiques or up on the roof with stunning views. Room was immaculate, we had a private bath in the Jacuzzi room, beautiful art and antiques decorate the building... The building is modern yet traditional, brand new and simple but stuffed with gorgeous art and antiques. We were emailed easy directions to the Andon Ryokan and given a map of the area - having stayed in central Shinjuku and Shibuya it was a little more difficult to get to but absolutely worth it and we will definitely stay there again

Although compact this is a really cool building with a great atmosphere. The design of the building is modern and really well thought out. It has a really cool atmosphere and a lovely reception area where it is possible to meet other travellers. The rooms are small but sufficient for short stays, the toilets and showers were always clean. There is a great jacuzzi bath tub which is easily bookable at reception and is beautifully decorated inside. The place has a great vibe with plenty of free tea and drinks as well as being in a nice area. Its a little way from the hustle and bustle of central Tokyo but we adored the local area and the nice little restaurants nearby. We also met some amazing people at this hotel as it is a little gem of a place attracting all sorts of different people.

The location is great,- nearby Minowa metro station. Easy to go anywhere from here! Good breakfast and most helpful and kind staff. A lot of information about things to do in Tokyo available.

We loved our stay at Andon Ryokan. The design of the hotel is fantastic, the staff are amazingly helpful and the location in good for sightseeing and for getting to/from the airport.

    we loved the breakfast!

shared bathrooms, tiny rooms (literally a box with practically no storage, you're basically living around a mattress on the floor), no decent lighting in the room so you can't see anything after about 5pm, the rooms were really expensive for what they are - boxes that are really far out of the centre of tokyo

Free internet, English speaking staff and access to the bath

Andon Ryokan is NOT a ryokan so if like me you were expecting a Japanese ryokan then you will be dissappointed. Yes it has tatami rooms and futons but really it is a travellers hostel, a good one at that but not quite how it sells itself. The rooms are very small and there is no privacy - you can hear everyone coming and going and conversations in other rooms.

    The bath!

Noisy, room excessively small even for a ryokan

very friendly and helpful staff, jacuzzi, nice architecture and room

small shower, must wait for it, quiet neighborhood (this can be plus for someone:)

Everything. I can't believe how perfect this place was for a cheap, friendly getaway. Even the small shower was a quirk and not a drawback.

    Nothing. I don't have a single complaint.

    Fabulous

A small, cosy and clean place which is well located. Very quiet and good for a relaxed time in hectic Tokyo. The architecture and design is very inspiring, and makes one feel comfortable. The jacuzzi is gorgeous. Free and easy internet access is big plus, and free coffee/tea is a nice surprise. I booked for one night, but in the end we stayed for one week. The kids (11&13) loved it, something different, and the staff is very friendly. I can really recommend this place, but you should not be claustrophobic...

...Because the room is really tiny - at least you will not lose anything in your room...and if you didn't expect a luxury suite, you get adjusted very quickly...

Really nice and familiar atmosphere there. Very intereting architectural concept.

Andon Ryokan is a very good choice if you want a clean and nice room without paying to much. We stayed for one night but would have stayed longer if we hadn't already booked another hotel for the rest of our stay in Tokyo. The staff if very helpful and suggested some very nice restaurants in the area. The breakfast was also great and very valuable! Free coffee, tea and wi-fi in the lobby was great, and the hostel has a very familiar feeling about it. I really recommend a stay here!
